Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer Review

I received this product free for review purposes but all opinions are 100% honest.
Sophia wasn’t feeling that well…just acting cranky and I couldn’t tell if it was “sickness” or teething! I thought she felt warm and I wanted to take her temp…I attempted to use the regular thermometer we had in our first aid kit. Trying to hold a thermometer under a screaming babies arm is virtually impossible. Big Fail and I really didn’t want to do a rectal temp. I decided that we needed a better plan in the future; we also had the ear thermometer but always come back with different temps when we do it a few times in a row. I need accuracy, especially when you are counting on an accurate temp when it is involving your most precious gift. When I received the Smart Glow TemporalScanner™ Thermometer to facilitate this post I was elated! What a genius idea!! Not to mention she doesn’t even realize it’s happening! The fastest most accurate temperature reading EVER!! So affective that even hospitals are using it! There is nothing more comforting than knowing we have this thermometer to take her temp (even ours) in the future. I can even take it without waking her in her sleep! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this thermometer and couldn’t imagine going back to the “old school” way! You can purchase your own HERE. It would also make the perfect baby shower gift!!

What the Peeps at Exergen had to say, “With a gentle stroke of the forehead it captures the naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery, taking 1,000 readings per second, selecting the most accurate. With its patented Arterial Heat Balance system the TemporalScanner measures ambient temperatures, mathematically replaces the small temperature loss from cooling at the skin, and displays an accurate arterial temperature.”

Why is it more accurate than ear temperature?
A major reason ear thermometers are considered inaccurate by medical professionals is because the positioning of the probe in the ear canal is inconsistent, thus creating inconsistent readings and frequently missing fevers. The temporal artery thermometer scans the forehead area for the temporal artery and it is almost impossible to miss the artery during a scan. Also, the person whose temperature is being taken does not like something inserted in their ear, making good positioning even more difficult. The gentle scan across the forehead is comfortable and not objectionable. The TemporalScanner has been proven more accurate than ear thermometers by a Harvard Medical School study.
